2018 Grant Recipients
The Lady Bowen Trust Grant Recipients for 2018 were:
BABI Youth and Family Service – $15,000
The Bridge2Home project – Providing household furniture and items and moving costs to young people and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, who move into BABI’s supported accommodation and transition to independence.
CASA Mackay – $15,000
Moving on project – To cover moving costs such as removals, the establishment of utility fees and/or rent for the first week depending on need for clients moving from homelessness into crisis housing or from crisis housing into long-term housing.
Chameleon Regional Housing – $6,000
Independent Living Project – Practical assistance to young people and young families in their move to successful independent accommodation.
Inala Youth Service – $15,000
Steps to Home project – Creating pathways to a better future for young people and young families, including Indigenous Queenslanders and those escaping family violence.
Laidley Crisis Care – $15,000
Healthy and clean help project – Purchase of whitegoods to enable improved self-care and hygiene.
Lawright – $2,000
Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic – Street Soccer event – Support to conduct the Street Soccer event for the Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic.
Mission Australia – Roma House – $10,000
Assistance for clients exiting Roma House – Flexible funding support to assist clients exiting Roma House to move to stable and secure accommodation.
Murri Watch Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation – $10,000
See me – hear me-connect me – To facilitate access to identification documents and to reconnect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander homeless people to cultural, family and community support networks, to assist them to achieve sustainable tenancies.
North West Youth Accommodation Services – $4,500
Pathways to the future – Creating brighter and more stable futures for young people experiencing homelessness by removing barriers towards education and employment goals.
RizeUp – $10,000
Comfort Kitchens – Providing the kitchen essentials including a new refrigerator, microwave, pots and pans to enable women and families escaping domestic violence to store fresh food and cook healthy homemade meals.
Uniting Care Community Koolkuna/Kalparrin and Clare Homes – $10,000
Moving Forward – Provide financial assistance to support homeless families and women and children escaping domestic violence to move into safe, secure long term sustainable housing.
Uniting Care Community – $15,000
Moving Families Forward – Kywong and Cherbourg – Provide financial assistance to support women and children escaping domestic violence to move into safe, secure, long term sustainable housing.
Whitsunday Housing Company – $10,000
Assist homeless clients in the Whitsunday/Bowen region – Assist clients that are homeless or at risk of homelessness to obtain the necessary items to start up a new home or relocate to a safe home.
YellowBridge – $15,000
Road to Home – To provide financial assistance for the purchase of essential household items and whitegoods for young people who are experiencing homelessness to transition into independent accommodation.
Youth Advocacy Centre – $10,000
Transitioning and maintaining practical supports – Provision of practical resources and support to increase the ability of homeless young people (15-19) to access and maintain accommodation.
Youth Housing Project Association – $10,000
Exiting homelessness packages of essential items for setting up long term independent housing – Providing essential white goods and household items for young people moving out of homelessness and into long term independent housing.
